'Cross Moves to Priority #1

Today was 1:30hrs on the Frisco Trail and surrounding dirt/gravel roads of Polk County. Temps were a little warmer than expected, but nothing like what is forecasted to come in mid-week (HEAT).

This was the first ride on the interum bike (Orbea Lobular) and the first true 'cross ride we have done in some time; that is about to change... Up until now we logged miles on the mtb and the cross bike (with road tires) with mtb and crit racing as the focus, but now the weekly rides shift more to the feel of drifting over the loose stuff, riding rough terrain, powering up and over short steep climbs and blasting out of corners (with the last one coming in August). It will be a breath of fresh change as cross means more morning rides and re-familiarizing myself with the roads/trails that creates an all-day-lasting smile on my face. In mid-August the barriers will return and the SBU course(s) will be a twice a week affair. I still have a couple crits to do along with one or two mtb's events, but not with such priority.

Tomorrow I am parting with the C'dale (going to my brother) and I am really torn about it. We have logged some fun miles and adventures together. Oh well, moving on... For some time I have wanted to move from a 56c frame to a 57c (same tt length) and the Lobular accomplished that. The C'dale fits my bro nicely so we both benefit from the transition. The Orbea has a 'lighter' ride than the C'dale and felt a little easier on the bum, but the front was more stiff and 'quicker' directionally with the Alpha Q. It is a good transition until the Blue touches down.
Below are clips of us heading out on the Frisco (south of 13hwy) and returning (north of 13hwy). The northern end of the FT is quickly becoming wide single track (which is fine with us).
