10,000 Hours

Got home in the afternoon to find Ian spending some time with a buddy swimming so Deb, Jake, and I hoped on the rigs and headed out on the Frisco for 1 1/2hrs. The weather was super and although the trail is overgrown and washed out in places I think everyone had fun.

Fired up the grill when we got home and dove into a couple T-bone steaks with some of the best fresh corn on the cob I have had in a long time.

I did some maintenance around the yard/garden while the below took place in the backyard. Ian has closed the gap on his 10,000 hrs in baseball just this summer (and to think of it so has Deb and I). Every evening that he doesn't play a game or have practice he is out there at least an hour. We got him a pitch-back device which is OK, but he likes a real person on the receiving end. It's fun to watch him as his mechanics are effortless and his throws are accurate and strong. He had a play the other night on third base in extra innings where he stabbed a grounder, came up firing a bullet to first, and got the runner by a mile; I know, most of you are thinking what's the big deal, but for an 8yr old to do it as easy as he did with a throw so accurate and strong it was very impressive. Deb had no idea she would play so much catch or 1 on 1 basketball games when she was a little girl. She is quite the little athlete.

***NOTE: Crocks are not only the official shoe of the IJOBL (Ian Jones Outdoor Basketball League), but also for the IEBBA (Independent E-ball Backyard Baseball Association)***

Finished off the evening tuning up the new toy (w/Alpha Q fork) in the garage while Deb whipped up some chocolate chips cookies (new recipe - mmmm).

Fitness: 2:10hr today on road with Ira. Good tempo as my legs felt heavy at first and by the end were in the groove.
