Jake started running yesterday with the team and he said it was hurting again toward the end of a 5 mile run. This morning it is pretty sore. He wants to run at conference on Tuesday so we'll take it day by day.
Rained like crazy last night and much more is expected for the next couple days. Noah, get the Ark ready. Not sure how much STL has gotten or what the outlook is for the mtb race. Ira told me yesterday he was out for the weekend so I am flying solo again.
Got a new pair of CST road tires in the mail yesterday for this years crit scene. Time to rotate the one's I was using to the 'trainer tire' pile.
It was TTT at Romandie, which is a little boring in my book. Rast had no chance of holding onto the jersey over a pretty demanding 16k course. Teams were blowing apart all over the place and I think only Columbia finished with over 5 riders (CARNAGE!). The next stage is the one to really weed out the non-contenders. Gila is also a TT (individual) and I have to think Levi will dominate, but Zirbel is a TT machine. Levi twitted that Gila is being broadcast in Spain and I am on the hunt to track it down online.
Just ran across this http://http//tourofkc.com/downloads/tourkc_09_info.pdf. Looks like a weekend of fun with KC Harding in June.
Here's one just to really hack-off Scotty D: http://http//www.stlbiking.com/flyers/Slyvan_Park_Crit_Flyer_09_.pdf. This is the crit I hope to race in STL if my mtb is cancelled. Please note there is payout ($175 four deep) for the 4/5 event AND ($175 4 deep) for the 40+ (Cat 4/5 only)!!!! Scotty just loves it when the bottom feeders (me) get paid as obviously we are unworthy non-Cat 1/2 quality. By the way, the Pro/1/2 only pays $310 six deep (hilarious!!!). To reset the above: Last fall I raced a C and then a B cyclocross race in STL and got my entry fee back in winnings from the C race and Scotty whined and cried that C racers are not worthy to get paid anything other than a participation ribbon and that he raced countless masters events in KC and never received cash (only swag - whaaa). So now it is priceless to race lower Cat events and get paid (or at least try to finish high enough to get paid). Still love you SD!
Fitness: Got in a steady spin of 1:45 on the trainer at lunch; watched 'Spirit' - absolutely corny, but it's how I kill time on the trainer and save the good stuff for my sweetheart).
paying lower classes cash will be the downfall of racing. Since there will be zero reason to cat up. Keep baggin & I'll keep beating you to the line cash or no cash.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely agree with every point you made; especially the last one.
ReplyDeleteScott,
ReplyDeleteAre you heading out on the creeks with all this water? Figured you for paddling this weekend.
